Alta Mesa is a residential renovation project located along the Hollywood Hills facing the San Fernando Valley at an altitude of 1,050'-0". Only a percentage of the structural exterior walls were allowed to be relocated, allowing for square footage to be re-distributed as needed for the client's need.
The client is a musician, and music is defined as "the science or art of ordering tones or sounds in succession, in combination, and in temporal relationships to produce a composition having unity and continuity" [Music.' Merriam Webster Dictionary]. As such, the interiors employed use of the Golden Ratio to bring a composition of sacred harmony, while strong linear elements produced continuity in the design, while sharp angles provided a contrast to the composition. The architecture and interior also work in unity to create new opportunities that bring the exterior to the interior of the home creating harmony.
