The 'Student Center' is a corporate/educational project that sought to revitalize the center of the University of Miami. It is a space that holds events, meetings, retail, dining, office, conferences, lecturing, etc... and as such, it must provide an environment of conversation, study, interaction, nourishment, and relaxation - at a time when WELL guidelines were not yet established.

The concept for the Student Center is taken directly from the school mascot: the Hurricane. The strong force that is notorious of a hurricane is broken down into its elements inspired by falling rain, strong winds, water, and earth to create a dramatic, expressive modernism that is a signature of Arquitectonica.

The project received LEED Silver status and has since been renamed the 'Shalala Student Center.'
